Every family paper,
in one findable place.
Pusaka Works maps, preserves and digitises the paper records families carry across generations — so nothing is lost to an unmarked box or a forgotten drawer.
Three ways to bring order to your records
Each service is scoped to a specific stage of organisation — from a two-hour mapping visit through to a twelve-month programme for larger family holdings.
Storage Map & Labelling Session
A two-hour appointment that produces a written map of where your household's papers of record physically sit — cabinet, box, safe deposit, digital location. Each container receives a numbered contents card and a single master sheet records the whole arrangement.
- Written master record — one page, full picture
- Numbered contents cards in every container
- Any items needing attention listed by professional type
- Physical organisation only — no reading for meaning
Preservation & Digitisation Project
A four-to-six week project converting your family's paper record into a preserved and searchable set. Includes archival boxes, inert sleeves, acid-neutral folders, 600dpi scanning with optical text recognition, a written file naming scheme and delivery on encrypted local media.
- Archival-grade housing for fragile items
- 600dpi scanning with OCR text recognition
- Before-and-after photography of older documents
- Up to 1,000 pages within standard scope
Heritage Records Programme
A twelve-month programme for families holding papers across several properties, generations or states. Includes the storage map session, the preservation and digitisation project, quarterly review meetings, an updated master index each quarter and a handover pack for the nominated family member.
- Quarterly index updates and review meetings
- Plain-language vocabulary reference sheet
- Annual oral-provenance session for older items
- Written handover pack for nominated custodian
What careful recordkeeping makes possible
Any document, found in minutes
A labelled map and consistent contents cards mean any family member can retrieve a specific paper without opening every container in the house.
Paper that survives decades
Archival boxes, acid-neutral folders and inert sleeves slow the deterioration that ordinary envelopes and rubber bands accelerate over time.
A searchable digital copy
600dpi scans with optical text recognition mean you can search the full text of a document on your own device without handling the original.
Your data stays with you
Digital output is delivered on encrypted local media held by your family. We do not retain copies of your documents after a project closes.
Clear scope, referred on in writing
Anything outside cataloguing and preservation is identified and referred to the appropriate qualified professional in a written note — never left in an unmarked pile.
Continuity across generations
The Heritage Records Programme includes an oral-provenance session each year, so the story behind older papers is recorded before it is lost with the people who hold it.
How many boxes would take more than an hour to search?
A Storage Map & Labelling Session takes two hours and leaves every container with a number and every category with a home on one master sheet.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly does a Storage Map session cover?
A Storage Map session is a two-hour appointment at your home or storage location. We walk through every place your family keeps papers — filing cabinets, cardboard boxes, safes, safe deposit facilities and digital drives. Each container receives a numbered contents card, and we produce a single master sheet showing the full arrangement. The session is physical and organisational only: we do not read documents for meaning, assess their legal standing or advise on next steps beyond noting which items appear to need professional attention and which type of professional handles that kind of matter.
How long does the Preservation & Digitisation Project take?
The project runs four to six weeks from the initial collection of papers. The timeline depends on the volume of material and the condition of older items, which require more careful handling before scanning. Volumes of up to one thousand pages sit within the standard scope. We photograph fragile items before and after rehousing, scan at 600dpi with optical text recognition, prepare a written file-naming scheme and a full contents index, and deliver everything on encrypted local media. Nothing is retained by Pusaka Works after handover.
Who is the Heritage Records Programme suited to?
The programme suits families whose papers span more than one property, more than one generation or more than one state — situations where a single session is not enough to bring everything into order and keep it there. It runs for twelve months, includes the storage map session and the preservation and digitisation project, quarterly review meetings, an updated master index each quarter and an annual session to record oral notes about where older items came from. A written handover pack is prepared for the family member who will hold the map after the programme ends.
Will Pusaka Works tell us what any document means or what to do with it?
No. Pusaka Works is an archival and administrative service. We catalogue, preserve and digitise. Where a document appears to require professional attention — for example, if it looks like a land title, a will or a financial instrument — we note the type of appropriately qualified professional who handles that category of matter and include that note in writing with our work. We do not advise on what any document means, what action should follow, or what a family should decide.
How is pricing structured and are there additional charges?
The Storage Map & Labelling Session is RM 490 per appointment. The Preservation & Digitisation Project is RM 2,400 for volumes up to one thousand pages. The Heritage Records Programme is RM 4,550 for a full twelve months. Archival materials — boxes, sleeves, folders — are included in the Preservation project and Heritage programme pricing. If a collection substantially exceeds one thousand pages, we will discuss scope and any adjustment before work begins. Travel charges may apply for locations outside Penang.
How do we keep our documents secure during the project?
Original documents remain in your custody or are returned to you at each stage. Where originals must travel to our workspace for scanning, we use a tracked collection process and return them in archival condition. Digital output is delivered on encrypted local media that stays with your family. Pusaka Works does not retain copies of your documents once a project has been handed over. We document the chain of custody in writing from collection to return.
