BENEFITS

What choosing Pusaka Works changes about how your records are held.

Clear scope. Archival materials. Encrypted output that stays with you. A system designed to be used without us.

Back to Home
Pusaka Works covers cataloguing, preservation and general information only. We do not draft, interpret, witness, certify or lodge documents on any family's behalf.
AT A GLANCE

Six things Pusaka Works brings to your records

Findability from day one

Every session ends with a master sheet and numbered container cards. Any family member can locate any category of document without opening every box.

Materials that last

Archival-grade boxes, acid-neutral folders and inert sleeves are included in preservation work — not an add-on. Rubber bands and plastic wallets are replaced as standard.

Searchable digital records

600dpi scanning with optical text recognition produces files you can search by keyword. No more reading through every page to find a single reference.

Your data never leaves your custody

Digital output is delivered on encrypted local media. We do not upload your documents to cloud services or retain any copies after project handover.

Written referral notes, not verbal advice

Anything beyond our scope is documented in writing — the item, the category, and the type of professional who handles it. You receive this in your handover pack.

A living system, not a one-time clear-out

The Heritage Records Programme maintains and updates the index quarterly across a full year, so the system stays current as the family's holdings change.

IN DEPTH
01 — EXPERTISE

Experience with multi-generational paper

The Pusaka Works team has worked with collections spanning the 1930s to the present day — land papers written in multiple scripts, insurance certificates from institutions that no longer operate, share registers for companies that have since merged. The handling approach adapts to the age and condition of each item.

  • Experienced with documents in Jawi, romanised Malay, English and Chinese
  • Familiar with Malaysian land title formats across multiple states
  • Cotton-glove handling for items older than 20 years
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR RECORDS

A document that looks damaged or illegible is not discarded or set aside. It is photographed, rehoused carefully and noted in the index with its condition recorded. The family receives a description rather than a blank in the record.

THE OUTPUT YOU RECEIVE

A full-text searchable PDF for every scanned document, a written file-naming scheme that applies consistently across the entire collection, and a contents index that lists every item by category, container and date where readable.

02 — DIGITISATION

Scanning that makes records searchable

600dpi resolution with optical text recognition is the standard applied to every project — not a premium tier. The resulting files can be searched by keyword on any device, shared among family members electronically, and passed directly to a solicitor or accountant when that becomes necessary.

  • 600dpi scanning — high enough to read handwritten annotations
  • OCR applied to produce searchable PDF output
  • Consistent file-naming scheme, documented in writing
03 — SERVICE APPROACH

Sessions at your location, not ours

Storage Map sessions are conducted where the records are held — your home, a family business premises or a storage facility. We do not ask you to bring papers to us. For digitisation work, where originals must travel, the chain of custody is documented from collection to return.

  • On-site appointments at your location
  • Written custody record for any document that travels
  • Heritage Programme includes quarterly visits across 12 months
SCOPE CLARITY

Every appointment ends with a clear written account of what was done, what is outstanding and — where relevant — which type of qualified professional the family should contact about specific items. You never leave a session with a list of verbal recommendations you may not remember clearly.

PRICING AT A GLANCE
Storage Map & LabellingRM 490
Preservation & DigitisationRM 2,400
Heritage Records ProgrammeRM 4,550 / year

Archival materials are included in preservation work. Travel charges may apply outside Penang.

04 — VALUE

Transparent, per-project pricing in Ringgit

Each service is priced as a complete scope. There are no add-ons for archival materials in preservation work, no separate charges for the file-naming scheme, and no subscription that continues after the project closes. The Heritage Records Programme is an annual arrangement with a defined scope and a fixed fee.

05 — OUTCOMES

A record your family can hand on

The output of every project is designed to be used by someone who was not present when the work was done. The master sheet uses plain language, the index is structured consistently and the Heritage Programme handover pack explains the system to the nominated family custodian so it can be maintained without our involvement.

  • Plain-language outputs, no technical jargon
  • Written handover pack included in the Heritage Programme
  • Oral-provenance session records the story behind older items
THE GOAL OF EVERY PROJECT

When the work is done, any member of the family — not just the one who arranged the session — should be able to open the master sheet, read the index and find what they are looking for. That is the practical test we apply to every output before we hand it over.

WHAT SETS US APART

Distinctive features of the Pusaka Works service

The one-page master sheet

Every project, regardless of size, concludes with a single master sheet that maps the entire paper holding. This sheet is written for someone encountering the family's records for the first time — plain headings, consistent categories, no assumed knowledge.

Annual oral-provenance recording

The Heritage Records Programme includes a structured session each year in which the family member who knows the history of older items records that knowledge. The notes form part of the index and remain available to the family after the programme ends.

No document retention after handover

Other services may retain copies of digitised documents. Pusaka Works does not. After handover, your family holds the only copies. This is a deliberate policy, not a default — and it is stated in our service agreement.

A system designed to outlast our involvement

The Heritage Programme handover pack is written for the nominated family custodian — the person who will maintain the map after the programme closes. The aim is a record that the family can update and use without returning to us.
